$35 Million for the Mayor's Indoor Pool at Sutherlands Park

We have had a win! Gosnells Council confirms they have $35 million for the Mayor’s Indoor Pool at Sutherlands Park (Stage 1 of SPLASH)

I want to thank every member of the community who signed the SPLASH petition and voted Labor at the WA election to confirm our election commitment of $2 million to the Indoor Pool.

The Council OCM May 2025 Budget documents now confirm $35 million is allocated and available for the Indoor Pool at Sutherlands Park.

The Armadale Pool was $26 million and is the perfect design for our Pool.

The WA Govt has contributed $2 million for the Mayor’s Indoor Pool at Sutherlands Park  (we gave $1 million to Armadale) and Matt Keogh / Federal Govt have contributed over $10 million in the Thriving Suburbs grant for Sutherlands Park (and for a permanent toilet at the Youth Plaza).

The Council (OCM 27/5/3) is now consulting again on whether the Pool build should start this year or later.

The Council need to hear from you if you support them building the Pool NOW or in a few years

Email the Council at [email protected] & ask it be sent to all 13 Elected Members and email me at [email protected]

With the $35 million now available we the community now request Council to confirm what progress (eg a Tender released for the Detailed Design to commence) can be made in 2025.

The Council now has at least $35 million - more than enough to start building the Indoor Pool. After 10 years of planning, the project is ready.

Their choices are

To build the $35 million pool now

OR

Defer the project for another Five years

The WA election was a referendum on whether to build the Mayor’s Indoor pool.

The Liberals promised $0 for the pool, WA Labor and Terry Healy promised the $2 million.

Let’s build the Mayor’s Indoor Pool now!

Once the Indoor Pool is done, as discussed with Council, Terry Healy will then advocate for more funding for the Outdoor Pool (stage 2) and then the Basketball Courts (Stage 3).
